Folks I need a bit of advice .

My Trout have stopped feeding . No floaters and they are all actively swimming albeit opening and closing their mouths .
Water temp has not been above 21-22deg .
Yesterday I topped up the water with bore water , not much tho , maybe 50 ltr in a 2000 ltr tank.
Problem was I ran it thru the small bio filter that is in the photos and it had not been run for a week or so and was very smelly
What do ya's think , D.O. problem or have I poisoned them with the smelly filter :dontknow: or maybe both .
Should I try and save the situation or flash up the smoker

I'd make sure they have lots of air (aerator running constantly) and give them a bit longer.

Well , glad I did wait as they are back feeding like crazed piranhas .

Had another little problem (now solved). Plants in one corner of the growbed started keeling over.

Thought o oh :dontknow: then out of desperation put a spirit level on the bed ........... and ....

yep , wasnt level and the Strawbs in the high corner werent getting any love . Quick bit of micro

adjusting and bingo :thumbright: Its amazing actually how a seemingly dead plant can come back

to life .

Alls good .

Having a bit of trouble with plants .

Coz lettuce seem to be rotting off and the ones that havent are yellow .

Strawbs are just sitting there , no movement at all .

Silverbeet going well .

Capsicum going well .

Im wondering if its all because I dont have enough fish , only have 8 trout and have the roots of a tree from next in the FT probably sucking out nutes ?

So cut off tree roots & add 30 ml seasol yesty :dontknow: just have to wait n see I spose.

I have raised the water level in my grow bed by increasing the standpipe length by about 1 cm as some of the smaller plants seemed dry (maybe not reaching the water).

Is this liable to create any problems ?

No problem raising the water level just so long as the top couple of centimetres are dry. Its only to stop algae growing on the surface of your GB.

Cheers Rob .

The plants are looking much happier now with a bit of seasol and higher water level.

Update :D

3 Strawbs are going well , 1 is just withering away :dontknow:

Coz lettuce all failed .

Rhubarb is dying

Silverbeet will be harvestable soon :headbang:

Beetroot growing well but no bulbs as yet .

Corn is flowering , tho not very tall .

Capsicum going mad :thumbright:

Artichoke growing well but slowly .

All in all pretty happy considering I only have 6 trout doing the poop thing .

Prawnz,

How big is your FT? How deep? Is it in shade all day?

Cheers
