My water test is showing what it has always said, Am 0-0.25 Nitri 0 and nitra 0 :?

My fish have gone off their feed over the last two days! guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

Cheers

Your in WA south?, been pretty cold here in the southwest last couple days. If your still just got silvers your tank may below 15 deg.

Some info I copied down from someones post.
"they'll feed down to about 15 degrees... then go right off, grazing a bit of algae, bugs, and any micro-organisms... might feed once every 2-3 days at temps below 15..."

Plenty of water movement so O2 shouldn't be any problem.

Fish are back to smashing their food again. I actually got splashed for the first time the other day! The Trout are growing, so is the lucky Goldfish.

I was thinking of throwing in a few egg whites to see if it helps clear out the algae. Any thoughts on this?

Cheers

Shaun

Hi MM
The eggs will only settle out suspended solids
Unfortunately it won't remove algae (string) I would guess that it may even worsen the problem as from my observation string algae is caused by excessive nutrients and too much sunlight.
Getting more growbeds in action and shading your tanks would be the best approach

Hi all thought I'd update my system thread.

Well the algae disappeared, but not before the remaining silvers died in the dark cold water of what appeared to be white spot.

The Trout on the other hand have thrived and are getting a fair size to them. One or two in particular seem to have substantially outgrown their friends. With the onset of this hot weather, I have ordered my new Silver Perch so I guess I'll see excactly how big the Trout are soon enough.

I have been harvesting some beautiful Broccolli and Silverbeat with more to come.

I'll post up some more pictures when I harvest the Trout.

No the Trout came out in October Faye. I now have around 100 S.P from 40-200mm swimming happily around the tank, only problem I can see is catching the big ones out of all the little ones when it comes time to harvest some.

Cheers

MM

You are doing really great. Can I suggest buying some local gravel rather than the clay beads from Germany which have to be transprted all the way around the world and which can also choak some fish if they spill into the fish tank.
