Does anyone know if it's legal to import Yabbies to us here in the States? I thought I might grow them in my sump.

Don't know, and never wondered, because crawfish are in all the ditches and bayous around here.
Come down and I'll feed you some. If you like 'em take some live ones home!

Rick

Hey! I LIVE in Australia, and Marron are illegal where I am! Good Luck guys.
Although from my experience America is a lot more relaxed than Oz about these things. Perhaps if a breeding pair were purchased for the Aquarium trade...

Hubby's not quite on board with me yet. It's kind of frustrating. :banghead:

What's that little daggy bit hanging down from the tank overflow pipe as it enters the GB?

There are actually 3 GBs, and that shows where the plus-sign connector goes off to the other two. The drawing only shows the one in the middle.

Meant to post a drawing with that. Here's what it looks like from the top.

I thought about buying a breeding pair or two, actually. They're really so much less agressive than the other crayfish, you don't lose as many to bad neighbors. :boxing:

Regarding the brownish pick on the right.
I found the hard way that it is a good idea to distribute your water over the bed, but only to stop solids building up and blocking the flow. If you have large enough media, it's not required at all.
I would also think that you're going overboard with your distribution network on top of the GB. The water will get everywhere, that's given by the siphon properties, so all you're trying to do is spread some of the solids.
Please be aware that the on ly thing I find wrong with the above system is that it's too elaborate, uses heaps of pipe, and could be simpler.
(so much for my affinity with over-engineering)

I think simplification to reduce required maintenance qualifies.

So I should cut out the ring in the middle. Okay, makes sense.

Um, is there a thread for Sketchup questions? I just got it, and I'm having trouble with the pipes.

Watch the first two training videos on the sketchup site - they teach you everything you need to know.

The tutorials are great, but yeah there is a sketchup thread somewhere... do a search, you'll find it.

Finally got the Sketchup finished. It's late and I'm feeling a little stupid right now, though. I'll just post some angles from it and be on my way to bed

Like my water tester?
