I recall the cringe we use to get after a while whenever we heard that "someone was making more mud" helping build a strawbale house with 14 foot interior walls. Although I guess it is quicker to say than stucco.

I plan on building a concrete tank and using at least 2 coates of a coloured pond sealer for the finish.
haven't decided if the colour will be sand or blue.
