Jas, they are just every day poly tanks. Reason for question on depth was as to whether i should look for squat tanks or if i can use deeper tanks rather than wide. I wanted to know if they could be too deep ?

I would avoid cutting down any tanks if possible. For the larger tank you could cut a large access opening in the top and maintain whatever depth you like. The difficulty is catching the fish when you want to, but if you have a storage tank around you can pump water into that and make fish harvesting much easier.

Personally I would use the larger tank for rainwater storage and go with the smaller multiple FTs. Larger RW storage tank can potentially double as a quarantine tank.
