It's working out ok. I ended up emptying the pipes and getting net pots. Some areas in the pipes pool, and that's where I put the strawberries with a smaller root system. The ones with log roots go in the shallower parts. My whole system is growing slowly, but it's getting there.

Ive had to mess a fair bit with how I put them in the pipes. I have ended up using long plastic pots with holes for roots out the bottom rather than net pots. They did not cope at all with roots exposed between the net pit and where they could reach the water. They also didn't like the pits filled with clay balls. I have coconut coir in the pits and that it working well. They seem to prefer something that can hold water. I need to spray them with some iron every now and then, but for the most part they are doing ok. It will be interesting to see how we go when they fruit again.
