Thanks Mr Iceman. Your growgrips will go in soon btw

dragon, its a CHIFT PIST system. 3 components - beds, sump, fishtank. IBC containers cut in half along the top and the other half along the bottom, connected by pipes (hidden by the wood) with the pump in the last one. This then pumps to the fish tank and then overflows to the growbeds.

Fantastic Jay! How deep is the water in your NFT pipes? I was thinking of cutting holes in my collection pipe between my towers to squeeze some more plants - seems a waste to let that space and lovely water flow by on the way to the FT without using it. My collection pipe stays about 2/3 full so it would sort of be mini DWC rather than strictly NFT; would that work?

What time is your opening on Saturday? Still haven't got my trout, so could arrange it for Saturday and drop in on the way through.

The opening is at 4pm but you can stroll through anytime - I would before the trout.

Just read through the acronym page, probably should have done that sooner. This thread would have made more sense the first time. But now I truly grasp the beauty of this set up! Jayendra, I think you have helped me plan out my future system! Thank you!

Check out Theron's system - I like it. There are many IBC systems here that are like this one also.

Hope your AP system opening and Earth Hour celebration went well tonight Jay :wave1: . Dropped into the cafe for lunch (very nice minestrone & curry) and checked out your system. It looks even better in the flesh than in photos, especially in the lush setting of the community garden :thumbright: . The chickens even greeted us through the fence between the NFT pipes.

Ended up getting 25 yearling rainbows for my AP system - they appear to have settled in with no dramas and ate around 4-5 large skrettings pellets each this evening. They were only 50 cents more per fish than the fingerlings. 'The Fish Farm' now has fish

Hi Jay, yellowing of the younger leaves is generally iron deficiency. Yellowing between the veins in the older leaves can be magnesium deficiency. If the pH is high, it can lock up iron and magnesium preventing the plant from taking it up (chlorosis), but if the pH is 6-7, then it could be a deficiency as the system is in its first season. If your pH is dropping, you could add some dolomite as this has calcium and magnesium. You could also try a scoop of iron chelates and give it a week or so to see if there is a difference. I would also throw in a cap full of liquid seaweed to cover off on a range of trace elements. Someone posted a really good chart of deficiency symptoms a couple of weeks ago, but I can't remember who or where... Will get back to you if I find it.
