Sigh.

What Stu has posted is that you don't have to have filters. And I don't know if Stu said those other things, but I know of Stu's system, and I believe he has stated that he is overstocked, for his own reasons. Stu repeatedly says he has made lots of mistakes, and posts said mistakes. Stu repeatedly says you don't need extra filtration nor aeration if stocked correctly in a backyard situation.

He doesn't ram it down people's throats unlike yourself, he doesn't have temper tantrums. He quantifies his results and suggestions.

The post you quoted by Stu, in its entirety is a very balanced, productive post. Your post above is not, in the slightest. And I find your posts more contradictory to themselves then anyone else's. I'll use the example of how long your fish were in tank, as I questioned above.

Look in the mirror mate before throwing the troll word around

Bcasey2703. Just sing baa baa black sheep. One more time.
What I have said is correct, when stu tells me and others the opposite of what he is now doing? don’t you even think there is a problem there? His grow beds are blocked with fish poo! But you don’t need filtration in your new system! But for how long wont you need it?
You wont need aeration so long as the power never goes out? But he is using an air pump in his system?
There are new people here daily. Are you going to say what Stu says? You learn by your mistakes you don’t advice others to do the same thing? I wan people to get it right. The first time. Yes Stu has a big system, if he didn’t he would have a lot more dead fish on his hands. By the sounds of his posts.

Now read his post again!

From day one you said you don’t need filtration if using media grow beds! Yet you put on a resent post your beds are starting to block?

I think this just exemplfies how little you understand. You MUST have filtration it is essential once you start getting above stocking densities of I don't know 1kg/m3. The thing is that media beds are more than capable of providing solids filtration although that is NOT their primary function. Just like they are more than capable of providing all the bio-filtration your system needs but again that is not their primary function.

As to my beds starting to clog....

I have two GBs they are 1m wide and 16m long. All the solid waste from my FT gets roughly split between those two beds and enters the beds at one end. While there was some localised build up of solids at the inlet to the GBs a couple of simple changes to how the water and the entrained solids where added to the beds fixed this. For months they have been receiving the waste from about 2kg of fish food per day. They are working fine (well the FnD drain one is anyway).

Another post you said air pumps are not required in AP? Yet you said in a post you need one and are using one?

There is no contradiction there at all. Air pumps are not required in AP. There plenty of systems out there that have been designed to not need an airpump or are operated in such a way so that an air pump is not needed. My system isn't one of those when its stocked with about 18kg/m3 of voracious trout that are now being fed about 1kg of food per day.

Now I don’t have the years behind me of killing fish as you do!
Thankfully neither do I. I have had two fish kills where I lost the entire tank. They were due to a power failure when I didn't have a backup system. I have had two maybe three minor losses where I've stupidly left a pump off. Apart from that those I've lost about a dozen fish in 8 years to suicide and about half a dozen to causes I couldn't identify. Since I tend to stock a minimum of 200 fish per season that is pretty good results over eight years as far as I am concerned.

Actually I'm under planted. The tank is only stocked to about 18kg/m3 and there is masses more filtration in the form of GBs to handle the load from the fish. My current problem is that I don't have enough plants to make use of the nutrients from the fish. My new DWC tank and GBs will help fix that problem though.

If anyone believes this shit then AP is gone? Stu do you even believe what you just posted? Its not your system that the new people are going to be using? Its their new systems that they are going to be using. Just like my system months ago that you put down constantly?
Have you ever noticed when you post something you get twenty views and no replies?
Some people are afraid of posting unless they are sheep? And follow your lead, you’re the big bad angry man that everyone has to fear! But not me! I will never be a sheep!

If Stu has such an influence on AP that anything he does can make AP "gone", he has some otherworldly power that I don't know of! Haha

I'm not actually saw what the rest of your rant means in first paragraph. Stu's opinion is very respected on this forum, for good reason.

Most of the replies you post are people saying you need to be careful what you say, and giving different advice.

Once again I don't understand your last paragraph....
