They reminded me of Tom Greene.
"Look Daddy, I'm a farmer!"

(If you don't know what I mean, you don't really want to know. Trust me... :puke: )

I am sorry Stuart. But you missed my point again. I did not say I invented the idea. I said if you look back. I saw an American guy using a paint filter bag around his submersible pump. I didn’t recommend that then and I don’t recommend that now. I also said I once worked in a paint factory. Where I used these bags daily. So I made my own design on how I would use it on my system for me.
Back then you said there is no reason to filter a media base system with a 1.1 ratio? In later post you are saying you need a filter On your grow beds?

I have taken lots off little bits of advice and viewed lots of clips to help design my setup. Anyone with enough money can buy whatever they want. But those of us on a budget make-do with ideas and limited money. It takes a lot of common sense to place all these separate ideas into a working system, that works.

The clips are down there. You fault them if you can.

Well they normally line up like sheep. Why not now? This is supposed to be back yard aquaponics? Not commercial aquaponics shooting down the little guy every time. Trying to sell you something new or not so new as everything has been done before?

Except some of us think outside the square? And we think if we try something different we may get better results. Its only your imagination that holds some back. But there are a lot out there that cant think for themselves. They need help.

Blizzard have you a build thread where you have detailed step by step (with pictures) your progress? I seem to find a lot of random posts from you but no consistency. You claim you have grown plate size Barra in 5 months or so, and if you have done this I would certainly be interested, but would like to see facts. A link to your complete system progress forum would be tops.

And saying "there (sic) are a lot out there that can't think for themselves" when you tout "aquasheisters" as Ryan calls them in reference to your statements and happily admit you like to watch rather then do/experience is a little premature.

If you ask pretty much anybody that knows me, they'll agree that I'm probably one of the most out of the box thinkers around, to the point that my wife is asking me if I need a captivate sensed wireless qi charging panel to pop up out of the dash in my car. And the answer was yes, and I've made and installed it. Do I need to screw around with the exhaust fan in my bathroom so it senses humidity and automatically kicks on and off, yes I do, and yes I did that. Do I need to mess with my outside house lights so they'll automatically turn on if I'm 10 minutes from home, yes I do, and well, that one is in progress.

I could go on for a while about my little projects.

I have nothing against thinking out of the box, I quite encourage it. I just do not care about a paint filter screwed inline that acts as a mechanical filter, it's not the new sliced bread. If you had any decent stocking rate (and before you argue, you don't, and I'm talking about backyard systems here, not commercial), you'll need to be changing it daily or worry about the pump blowing, or bags breaking, but if you're happy to do that, then awesome. I just don't care.

If you cannibalized something like a washing machine, replaced the drum with some stainless 60 micron mesh, and turned it into a rotating drum filter that has an automated sprayer to clear the solids off the side on every rotation, then I'd be impressed.

Or if you developed some sort of inline solids suction device that can draw and trap the solids inline and deposit just them without parts that needed to be maintained, we'd all be impressed.

I know you're proud of your filter, we all know you're proud of your filter. You discovered and employed it without any help or resources, whether it was new or not, we just do not care, and I'm over hearing about it.

I'm also over you trolling everybody to try to get reactions, you're lucky the mods are very tolerant people, because if I was in their place, I wouldn't be.

Amen. I too would be impressed if you turned an old dryer into a drum filter. I have thought about and even did a few rough sketches on that very project. paint filter= no big deal home made drum filter that works = take a bow

Truth be told, I was seriously contemplating one of those when I was originally building my system. But I couldn't find the sieve for a reasonable price, and I figured it'd be way easier to just use the GB as the filter.
