Thanks Colin I'll let you know how I get on.

I've added 4kgs to approx. 2,000 litres. of water:

900 litres. Fish Tank
400 litres. Sump

And 40% of 3 x 300 ltr. and 2 x 200 ltr. GrowBeds Approx. = 780 litres

That will take it to approximately 2ppt for tonight and I'll check it and add the balance in the morning.

Thanks to all for your help, you guys are always there when I need you.

Hi Joblow - I would do the salt 3ppt now!!! Leave it at 3ppt for 4 or 5 days - then slowly bring it back to 1.5ppt for a couple of months. BUT that is me. Best wishes - ColinW

Yes 3ppt will help with the ich,how are the rest of the fish at that temp i would have thought they all should all have it.
The salt works on the ich by osmotic regulation at 3 parts plus they pop and drop off the fish. With ich the fishes immune system gets severely comprised leaving it wide open to secondary infection, the red blotch could have been an ulcer or fungus, again the salt will help with all of this.I wouldnt worry about leaving it high if the fish show no signs of distress at that level to help rid your system of any unwanted beasties.

Hi Dasboot,

Yes I'll take it up to 3ppt this morning and check it with a Refractometer.

It's almost impossible to see if any other fish are infected because they all hang around the bottom of the tank, and they're certainly too fast to catch with a net.

Thanks for the advice.
