doesn't "normal" glass cut out a fair proportion of UV anyways?

Oh, my glass is very special, too. We just had all the windows in the house replaced ($$$!!!), so whatever the latest glass technology is, we got it! (The old windows were 14 years old, and starting to rot and fall out of the house. @$#%@! cheeeep builder!!!)

14 year old wood rotting? we don't deal with that to much, to dry(jk). but as for the windows, there new, so they might have a clear UV protection, are a off color UV protection.

or the sun is not hitting it right, do you have full sun all day? and which direction(N, S, E, W) is it facing? correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but i assume that a north facing window, would not be in are benefit, in the US on a higher lat.?

egg plant sounds like a great idea, my mom love the stuff, Janet, how good are yours doing? have had a feast yet?

and to anyone else, i know fruit plaints tend to have a different light times to encourage flowering and fruiting, and I'm wondering if i can get referred to a site, where it has the different light timings for the different fruits?
or do they all go by the 12on 12off flowering times?

this whould help me a lot for chooseing the best plants for my system, and give outher comboes options.

thank you
-mikey

Hi DF,
The sunroom faces southwest, but has a solid shingled roof. I get afternoon direct sun except when the tree blocks it.

I did eat a couple eggplants from the AP system, but they got hit with aphids and I had to pull them. Dad and I have recently decided that eggplant likes a lot of water, but well-drained soil. Great for AP according to my limited experience.

I don't know. I've never tried to grow a plant in our walk-in wardrobe! It's pretty bright in there though.

ummm, No.
That's the walk-in wardrobe, up near the ceiling. The main reason it looks tidy is that we need a step-ladder to get up that high to shove the junk

Seriously, back to the skylight. I don't know if it would be bright enough to grow fruiting plants. It has meant that we don't need to turn the light on in there during the day (as we used to). On a sunny day, the light spills out into the next room, it is very bright.
If you had a skylight for use as a source for plants, you would need to make sure that the roof above it was clear of trees to ensure constant light supply.

Actually, the skylight was originally going to be a solar-tube (with the silver tubing down from the roof), but the installer said it would work just as well with out the tubing (now its a kids toy). We also don't have the dome on the roof (catches too many leaves etc), but we have a panel of clear acrylic (?) roofing so the external profile is the same as the roof. We also have silver insulation batts in the roof space, so there is a lot of reflection in there.
Full moon nights light the room up completely too
