Right, so the reason this project was put on hold is that the over wintering project has now become a moving project.

New owners are keeping the AP system, but I'm taking the fish and all electrical equipment. They also bought the fish tank I was going to use, so I'll be acquiring an IBC to use as the FT.

I have received the uniseals for the filters, and will begin work on them shortly after getting additional pipe fittings.

This project will proceed in a few stages:
1) construct filter(s) and attach to existing system for precycling using secondary pump
2) located temporary IBC tank at parents house
3) move the filters and a few fish to temp tank, precycled filter should mean instant system cycle.
4) on moving day, move remaining fish to temp tank, they will stay there until AP system is built at new house.

I might skip the process of attaching the new filters to existing system. Instead I might add a small amount of existing media to the filter and do a fishless "cycle" at the new location. It is riskier given the short amount of time I have to do this in, but it saves moving filters full of water and media. The media transferred from current system to the new filter should help move the process along.

Unfortunately I don't think I will get my system up and running at the new place as soon as I wanted. I've been doing the sums, and there are some more immediate and considerable costs/purchases that need to be seen to first.

So I think the silvers will have to stay in the temp tank for winter.

Moving costs + 2nd car + fixing bits and piece at new place. It all adds up.

Of course I planning to go as big as I can :) with the new AP system.

Its a shame your AP is put on hold for a while but your new improved system is well worth waiting for

Maybe I'll start by doing a bit at a time. Only problem is that I think I should really put the green house up first, before put in a working AP system. I don't see the point in letting the pest populations become established first, then sticking a sealed green house over the top.

This means that the AP will not exist for some time.

I suppose you ask cause u want to run trout?

I'm moving further from you I think, they'll be living over south west syd....I'm not writing off an AP set up yet. My plan was to do separate large and small systems, with the smaller system being built second and with its growbeds outside of the greenhouse.

I might just plan where to put the large system & greenhouse, then build the small system first...should not be too expensive with 3 IBCs and some gravel

Looks like project disaster.

Fish have been in for a few hours and are looking in far worse shape then when they left the transportation containers.

One or two are dead or almost there. I have tried splitting them up between my old small ap system that has been running on Charlie carp, my dads pond, and holding system. This is an attempt to mitigate risk, but it might be too late.

My #1 theory is that the oil based stuff in the IBC was not completely gone and is contaminating things. The fish were fine in their transport containers.

In not in site, I expect to see 100% dead when I return.
