Just thought I would bring you up to date. I stopped running the pump 24/7 it now runs at night and for 15min every one and a half hours during the day, that should cut down the wet feet problem. After doing some research on hydroponics I now think the problem may have been excessive heat from the roof. I'll see what happens now it has cooled down a bit. The Tomatoes are just starting to flower so we'll see how it goes. Still trying to organize for some pics.

Hey I am still going I know I am the slackest communicator but the system has been going great for the last year lots of toms and beans spinach (yuck but my wife makes me eat them). BUT I got a problem again MY FISH ARE NOT HUNGRY I tested the ph and ammonia both seem fine. Yesterday they were munching away happily today they seem a little slow and not very happy I even gave them some Soldier Fly larvae but that didn't even tempt them and I really don't want them going belly up am I just panicking to much or does anyone have some help for this ignorant yet enthused Aquaponicist.

What is the temperature as compared to what the fish will tolerate? Perhaps it is too hot for them?

Check nitrite and nitrate, too, but I would question temperature first. You're in the hottest part of summer, right?

Hey Termite, good to hear from you again...temp has been rather mild lately (~28c air temp) so this may not be the prob.

Every now and then the SP go off their tucker, my normal response is to stop feeding for a day, seems to fix my problem...test your water tho as Janet suggests

They must be getting large enough to eat now, or have some already been decorating a dinner plate :D

have u got plenty of aeration happening with ur system? Aeration will give u lots of oxygen for the fish, makes up for a multitude of sins. Is ur pump working satisfactorily? What sort of pumping cycle times are u running?
