With those numbers, I'd still be tempted to stop feeding the fish for a few days (by now you know that fish can survive and be happy without food for a while).

If you have any spare space in your GB(s) you should add some more plants, if not, then the nitrates will come down as the plants use it (so long as you don't go creating more by feeding the fish). In the end, you control your nutrient levels by controlling the amount you feed your fish.

+1 with Charlie on the salt; it can take months for the salinity to drop.

you are getting lots of nitrates so the bacteria are working hard on the nitrites so back off the feed, till the nitrites drop, and dont worry about the nitrates

Glad I found this thread in a search. It answers some questions for me being a newbie who has just cycled my system and got my first batch of trout last weekend. The ammonia and nitrites have spiked at 0.5 for ammonia and 2 for nitrites. I changed ~20% water yesterday and salted to ~0.6ppt and have stopped feeding. And yes, I have strawberry towers, hence my cautious level of salting. Its a worry, but I need to leave it alone and keep monitoring I suppose. The ~25 trout yearlings seem happy enough, but I am now convinced I would have been better to go with fewer fish and smaller fingerlings in my immature system as all of the experienced APers recommend. It would be less of a stress for sure, but we get so excited and want it all to happen now...
