#Bump#

Time to dust this thread off... (I was on page 3 :( )

Since I last updated I had [s]6[/s] 5 Rainbow trout... They got too big for them to live humanely in the small tubs waiting for me to install them a new home, so they were given a better home (3 months ago). One may still be in there somewhere... It disappeared completely over night....

Current Fish: 5 Goldfish 2 Swordtails 4 Marron

Plant Growth: Explosive, in the picture I have attached, the plant growth represents approximately 2 months of growth. The breakdown of solids left over from the trout is really kicking in. The water is crystal clear. The giant silver beat 'tree' in the middle was half that size when I removed most the leaves for dinner the other night. Look at it now. Also in there is a ruby chard, two Italian parsleys and you can just make out a tomato plant.

The third bed (left) is mostly full of gravel, just never got around to filling it up all the way... It is home to two frogs atm...

Definitely a good option, I only wish I had the the big tank in to get them to full size. Powerful fish, fast growing and furious eaters...

I am hopefully getting a big tank in soon, so Barra will be the next test. :)

Your chards look great, I definitely have to try those!

The frogs, well apart from being very loud, they are maintenance free. And keep the snails off the plants...

FYI... All the plants in there are grown from seeds which dad collected from last years crops (which were from seed the previous year etc. etc.)... If customs wasn't so strict I would send some over XZorb...

Thanks, TimC. Even if the customs weren't a problem, it's much cheaper if I just buy seeds at the local garden center (come across it every day coming from college) instead of sending it to the other side of the world. :P
I keep forgetting that I'm rather spoilt living in a place where you can get everything you could want within a 20km radius of your home..

Anyways, I might even have some red chard seeds myself still. :)

Frogs are a protected species in Holland, but I heard they're a plague in Australia?

Only the Cane Toad Thomas, and they out-muscle any of the other species from the habitat they invade...

Time for an update of sorts... Here are a few pictures of 'fillet' my barramundi, who is, for now, in my 6 ft aquarium... He is 32 cm long, as far as I can tell.

I have three hundred over 750 grams and I hate to eat them. They are part of the family! A few are over 1.5 kg. Those for sure will stay around a while.
