Will the association allow you to grow plants on the deck or anywhere else? And could you keep them out of reach of the landscapers weed-killing sprayers?

1. Yes, and 2. That's a good question! From what I understand the landscaping maintenance guys must have access so if you have a fence it needs to be able to be opened by them, and they do all the mowing, planting, mulching, etc. You can put your own plants in but they will have access to keep things maintained. The chemicals question is a worrisome one...

So basically you have to let the landscaping company into your back yard to do whatever they want? I wouldn't want to live there.

LOL.

So barb wire to keep them away from your deck might be frowned upon?

I've been measuring pretty much every day, they have been low to mid forties. Lowest I've seen so far is 40F/4C. The fish only getting a little sprinkle of food less than once per day. Plants are holding on, although they saw some frost a couple days this week.

Reworked the indoor aquarium by filling the rectangular planter with charcoal and running constant flood.

Plan is to run another tray in the opposite direction after that. This is what I want to do for the front trough in the greenhouse. Three 2x4s in parallel, with liner hung between, flow down one full of charcoal from the trash can, then down the other side. The other side will have a hanger to set planters in to water them, and probably foam and the little net pots for lettuce. I have never liked the trash can in the pond, it's in the way, and single trough would hold as much media as it does.

Can't find the camera at the moment, and the iPad can't upload pictures. The cold frame has an inch of snow on the roof right now. Was able to find a 12v wall wart transformer in the random electronic junk tub in our basement. Makes me think it is a good idea to keep the electronic junk around awhile. I replaced our second Wii's power supply using the first Wii that way.

Or finding it at all, when some unnamed person is looking to simplify life and tossed it without telling you. Can't begin to tell you the scads of fun I've had hunting for an item that I know I have, when I really don't. :help:

Which is why moving is so heart-wrenching. Not the emotional ties to the old place, it's the knowledge that you had to throw out all that good stuff to cut down on moving costs.
