Jokes aside, the IBC outlet has a butterfly valve that they won't go past. The fish are 150mm. Before I put in a hiding spot for them, they would sit in the opening there and while not getting stuck, they would reduce flow enough that the FT nearly overflowed. Things are balanced pretty fine. Since putting in some good cover, they never look at it but also, they have taken to hovering in the water flow, mid tank. Looks pretty.
I understand your point though and I looked for a strainer for it. Total eden has them, but I have committed the AP sin of crossing my fingers.
I shot some video today with a GoPro and will post it up shortly.

Heres a video link to my system and my take on solids removal. Not everyone will agree but I'm happy that it works for me. It will be interesting to see how we go when the Barrys get up in size.
