half barrel growbeds are nice, but they don't use space very efficiently
cut horizontally instead of vertically you can fit 2x as much gb in the same footprint just about..

:think: ? The available area would be pretty much the same wouldn't it? Except cut horizontally you end up with a tub that is significantly deeper than if cut vertically in half and laid on their side to form more of a tray. Besides, from what I've read so far you don't gain much advantage of GB's over 12 inches deep.....but then again, maybe I'm a little confused.

My understanding was that the SOP was to cut them vertically and lay them on their sides. :dontknow:

people have cut the blue barrels both ways...
you mentioned putting this in a gh, and deeper beds are definitely better (more filtration)..
some folks use 100gal rubbermaid stock tanks that are around 22" deep.. good filters
