Of my packet of tomato seeds I have only one seedling. I believe its due to cold water temps. I will measure this arvo. They may all come up together.

I am off to mudgee today so trout are being babysat by a combination of people. Then when I return I guess it will be time to figure out how I'm going to put the little buggers to rest.

Guess which idiot forgot to turn on the air stone after she finished vacuuming the car yesterday? About 6 dead that I can see so far. Some belly up but still gasping. This, after a fox attack on my chooks is not my happiest day.

Lost 10 that day, don't know about any more as I'm away. Gave me an opportunity to weigh at least. Largest 370g, smallest 170g. Not really good for my first go but can't help the weather. Water temp 19 which is cooler than I imagined thanks to my layered deciduous trees knocking out any post midday sun.

Although I love trout I'm looking forward to my silver perch, lots less stress and something to eat my green trimmings.

370 grams is close to eating size.. another few weeks would have seen them there...

You had a slow start to feeding... while you sorted the system out... and the trout were stocked at the end of the scond run... whereas most people stocked a month or more earlier...

I wouldn't call your results a failure... or be too disappointed..

I'm pulling out 250g fish and eating them... so 370 is plenty big. I got mine on Rupe's second run too but I think the ich that killed my SP stunted my trout as they were barely eating for a good month at the start.

Largest 370g,

Nothing wrong with that at all- a local restaurant buys them at ~380g from Arc En Ciel Trout Farm, which they say takes a year to get them to that size.

Yep, it is what they consider to be plate size! Perhaps BYAPers generally have larger than average plates ;)

Everything's dying, nothing's surviving... Fish still eating but not as much as I would like. I have a thrips (?) infestation, on a huge huge scale. I'm guessing that's the biggest problem. I sprayed yesterday with molasses but it did nothing. Will try with garlic spray but we're in the middle of a 3 day block of rain so will need to wait. Hopefully the rain lowers the population to a manageable level. I have many lady beetles, but I guess there's only do much they can eat...

I have ripped out all my brassicas as they were harbouring most of the bugs. Some plants showing chlorosis, I'm thinking its iron deficiency. I added some seasol yesterday but its a but of bucket chemistry, how long do you wait to see if you have added enough?

Will buy some iron chelates and Eco rose next time I'm out. But again not sure if the dosing.

I'm getting zero germination from smaller seeds and larger ones develop 2 leaves then go to mush and die. Maybe a deficiency? Maybe my water level is too high? Will lower today and see how I go.

My poor AP system is cranky with me for leaving it alone for 3 weeks. pH is fine at 6.5, has been steady for a month now with no additional garden lime. I presume it is sitting in the growbeds, dissolving as needed.

I can't tell what those are but I'm not sure they're thrips. I'm not seeing any of the younger yellowish ones and the shape seems wrong :dontknow:
