Cheers werdna :)

After the death of Pinchy i have not put another one in my aquarium. The sump aquarium is pretty much empty aside from a few feeder fish. I have put an undergravel filter in the sump that the pump draws from now and i am planning on putting my shrimp in there. I think one of the fish (I am looking in your direction ghost knife fish) is eating all the baby shrimp.

I do have a decent size (its actauly really small compared to what most people catch) on in my IBC who might get rehomed.

Did you hold a service for pinchy ryan? Id hope to see an invite for Brutas and myself in the mail thank you very much. We are both very upset.. and I think Brutus was looking forward to a calcium hit.

He is definitely my prime suspect werdna. I never see it eating either. Damned ninja it is. Once i get a bit more greenery in the bottom tank i will move as many shrimp as i can before they are all gone :(

Charlie the only calcium hit Brutus would have had would be in the form of a devastating claw blow :P

You wont. They are mainly nocturnal. Thats why they are almost completely blind.
But they have big mouths... And are known for taking down some fairly respectable sized fish.

So... I got another aquarium today... 8)

I got told about it at the tip the other day and all of sudden i found some stuff that had to go to the tip! Coincidental eh?

It measures 2000x580x610 and i picked it up for $20. It needs a bit of work but i think it should make a fine aquarium. The tip man thinks it used to be a terrarium, but im not so sure. It has some glass that has been silasiced into the back corners that look like they are for air lifts.

Also i managed to snap a quick pic of Nessy for some scale.

The thought has definitely crossed my mind. Maybe insulate the whole thing and over winter them... Or get rid of the two that i have now. I am going to have to think about it. I really didnt need it with the move happening in the next few weeks, but at that price it can sit in the shed for 12 months for all i care :)

The only problem is i cant get it out of the car and i need to go and get some stuff for SWMBO. I really didnt think this through...

Great find Ryan. Any scratches on the glass?
Would make a great rift lake Cichlid tank.

If I was in your position I would have had to swap the wife for the tank. She seems OK with the idea as she has said many times that if I get another tank she is out of here.

Great bristlenose and even comes with its own gift card.

My peppermit bristlenose look like they are breeding so may have some bubs on the way!

Oh man a Cichlid tank would be tits!

It does have quite a few scratches but they are only light. I am thinking i am going to learn about polishing glass. :S

I want this tank to look good, unlike my current tank set up. I think i am going to learn a bit about wood working in the next few months too :)

Fill it and leave it outside for 2 weeks before adding water inside.
I dont trust 6ft+ s/h tanks very much, had one split on me.
Look along the silicone joins for lots of air gaps, little bubbles are ok, but long ones are a bad sign.
Especially along the bottom, thats where they split generally.

CLR can be used to get rid of the calcium stains inside.
Apparently toothpaste is excellent at removing scratches in glass, however prefill first. Most scratches dissappear once water is added.
The ones that stand out are when they are inside and fill with algae.

Good luck :)

Thanks for the tip werdna. I will definitely be giving this tank some attention before it enters the house.

The scratches are not too bad, but some of them look like they will get algae in them. I have scratches in my tanks now and it stands out within a few days of cleaning. Stupid algae :P

That bristlenose is one of your girls too mate :)
