Hi Matt,

Thanks.

If you click on '2014' in my signature that is my new property and will be the new system thread. We have only recently moved and there are some priority jobs I need to do first. I also work away which is slowing progress.

I have the location and design sorted but it will have to wait.

Yea. Don't need the tank but. Could possibly onsell that to cover a few dollars.
More to think about...........

Cheaper than buying a new growbed and stand, will look better, same colour as mine..
Not too much more than if I build one, and no hassles doing it.

Ok cool, I'll have to wait till I get on the PC tonight as I'm currently using the iPhone and don't know how to access your 2014 signature on this thing... Cheers!

Had a visit to my old system a moment ago, it was getting dark and in my excitement only took one photo. First impression is its still performing to its full glory, tomato's going absolutely bonkas and a few of the original plants I had in there are doing well like the capsicum and pineapple.

The SP had put on a bit more weight with most of them probably pushing the 1kg mark but the 3 little catfish I had were the most amazing, they were huge compared to last time I saw them, really cool. The new owner said he was impressed at how quickly things grew and how fabulous the produce looked and tasted. He admitted he didnt realize how invasive the tomato's would become and was still learning different planting and pruning techniques with all the different plants. There was a great crop of bok choi in the raft and the roots looked quite good considering he has no pre-filtering. The yabbies were still going strong and he had some marron on the way.

It was reassuring to see the system in good hands.

You know I get easily distracted by unusual species Charlie... I don't need this kind of encouragement... :naughty:

Out of academic interest,, can you estimate how much they've grown (length is fine) and how long it has taken? I was keen on them some time ago but couldn't find a lot of solid info on them.
I'm not changing my stocking plans or anything but one day I'm sure to give them a go. Assuming they can be found cheaper than I've seen them advertised that is. From memory they were a bit pricey now that I think about it.

I purchased them about this time last year, I overwintered them in a heated aquarium because they were quite small, maybe 5-6cm.

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=15964&hilit=charlie&start=60

I then moved them to my AP system in summer and they have been there ever since, they would be about 17-18cm now if I was to guess, massive heads though. I wish I took a pic, Ill try on the weekend.

And yep, they are pricey.

Cute little buggers aren't they? Wasn't expecting a video, gives a good idea of where they started.
Thanks for the info.

You just make a holiday in Darwin and take as much catfish out of our waterways as you like, the more the better. ;-)

I'm not sure how well they transfer from the wild but there are squillions of them in our relatives farm creek and I would like to try to stock them at home, should be ok cause they seem quite resilient.
