Thanks for the recipes Matt, will they work ok with ripe tomato's? Id like to give one a try this week.

These 'tommie toe' varieties have been the best producers for us this year, I highly recommend them as they taste fantastic and we have harvested a good bowl full every week out of one plant.

Sadly this system is almost at its end, I have a few buyers willing to take it off my hands and hopefully I can steer them towards the forum for an update now and then on its progress over the years.

Ill do a final goodbye within the next few weeks. Unfortunately I wont get to see my pineapples develop but it looks like I might get to try a nectarine or two before it goes.

No worries Charlie

Go the Kasoundi , that's my favourite :headbang:

I only use produce that I would eat to preserve (other than the obvious , green tomatoe pickle). Not worth the work or the expense otherwise ( a few+ over-ripe in the mix would be ok)

Good luck with the move , looking forward to Charlie's 3rd System Mark I & II and maybe even III

Cheers

Started packing up the system this weekend as the new owner will be taking it next weekend. Pulled out this tommie toe that was nearly 3 metres long x 2.

You must practice golf putting back there, that lawn looks like a putting green Charlie. That's like a half days growth of grass here.

Nice work on the two lead pruning of the tomato :thumbright: .

don't store tomatoes in the fridge.. if they're ripe, layer them in newspapers on a shelf or box that you can cover
if they're not quite ripe, a day or two on a window sill with some sun and you're good to go

why is it not a good idea to store toms in the fridge? I've got mine in the fridge to stop them over ripening.

Also, I've a glut of cherry toms, though its a lot of work to peel each small cherry tom for sauces etc, any tips on getting skins off of cherry toms?

Yeah its call a processor, peeling skins off and seeding is over rated, we just do them whole and you get the benefits of all the nutrients in the skins and the seeds.

Changes the texture and taste. For me it's mostly the texture.

I Don't even bother with the skins on cherry tomatoes. Usually I roast these in the oven. I remove the stem and leaves but not the stem end.

You can also roast them with other things like onions, garlic, rosemary and basil
