Depends on You location (Latitude) season and how you have things set up and how much you lean the tower back.

The towers are really best suited for higher latitude controlled environment agriculture that still gets good sun penetration even through winter.

In latitudes closer to the tropics (sun more overhead), there is less benefit to going vertical especially if you are out in the open and can spread out and therefore can NOT control the temperatures as tightly.

If you are in a location with very cloudy winters, the winter will likely require supplemental lighting even in a greenhouse so going vertical will need to be a calculation that includes the cost of square footage as well as the lighting method most appropriate to whatever growing method gets used. Might be worth while to see what the guys in Wisconsin (Like Imagine Aquaponics) have discussed with N8 about tower installs in the cloudy winter climates.
