Was away for the weekend so the trout fasted.

ate so much food!

however they're predicting 39 for Wednesday... so, fingers crossed eh?

Well. 39 is the forecast today...
it's now 36 in the shade out back...
trout tank is 24 already!!! WTF?? Oh yeah, the neighbour cut down that big tree didn't he? Damnit! Now I need even MORE shade cloth.
Here's hoping the water doesn't heat too much more before the change tonight.

Are they RATS?

Holy crap. Took me ages to work out that the pink things were the animal. I thought all those grey bits were animal , hence the confusion with a box of rats....

tank water is 24 this morning... wow it must have been hot yesterday to have only cooled to 24!
today's top is 25, so I'm safe that it wont climb I think.
some trout were at the surface, but when I removed the lid they fled, so not too bad at all really.
Finishing my smoker (à la the one I made for Steve S) on Sunday, so I may have to harvest a couple just to try it out. Steve hasn't given me any pointers or weaknesses of the smoker design, so I trust it'll work perfectly!

Nice white flesh.
Cooked wrapped in foil with half a lemon sliced up in the oven.
Beautiful flavour with the lemon.

The smoker is complete, but needs the motor oil burnt out of it.
Many fish are plate size, some sadly are still only 5 inches :-(
