comes with own internal battery, and(drop in water) thats why I have it sika down to the bench. Last week on s/coast was hot got to 45.5deg ambient under my shade cloth cover (35deg by weather reports) and water temp went to 25.5.
I erected tarp on N side of shade cover and another over the roof to cut out all the direct sunlight. It has taken a few days for water temp to drop 2 deg.

Nice work Chainsaw... water temp around 25-28 is probably optimum for most native fish...

What made you decide to drop it back??

P.S ... what does the solar panel supply... and what's it rated?

Dropped by itself, the weather cooled off.

what does the solar panel supply... and what's it rated?

comes out of the van, might as well make use of it. supplies my backup system. It is rated at 4 amps. (50W) and cost afortune about 10 years ago. Operates a Weipro 40w pump with aireator on outlet to just recirculate inside the IBC.

Sorry KP didn't mean to hijack your thread. Will open my own soon.

Nah hijacks are common, so long as they're not frivolous BS I don't mind.

Well today the trout got an extra special feed.

With all the rain about, I hadn't been cleaning the dog's bowl, in fact it was left close to the door and the food just added every night.
With all the rain these fellas in the bowl had migrated underneath to the dry spot. Good thing I moved her bowl this morning eh?

Also to those who thought my raddish weird.
I have to blame a lack of trace elements.
Leaves of all my plants went very pale, some time ago, including all the raddish.
However I fixed the problem, yet the raddish weren't healed.
This is what my raddish are MEANT to look like (I think) I pulled this this morning, and was quite surprised.

Hey Kuda did the trout actually eat the maggots? I vaguely remember trying mine with some maggots last year and they did not touch them, same thing happened with green cabbage grubs :(

Tell the truth, they'd been fed already, so there was obviously no jumping, and I truly can't be sure. The algae on the tank makes it a bit hard to see, and the light reflects badly off the surface. Add to that the tinyness of maggots, they become hard to see once they're 800mm under water. I do know however that the quail weren't interested, so into the trout tank they went ;-)
I'll check tonight to see if any are lying on the bottom of the tank.

My dad was a keen fisherman and used to breed maggotts for bait. I can remember him using th fish heads and putting th lot into bran or pollard (not sure which) they used to grow to about an inch long, also nice and dry to handle.
