Chris, just thinking out loud with this, are your filters shaded or covered from the light ? nitrifying bacteria are inhibited by light they ideally need to be in the dark.

Sam, I had a whole tray with about 70 seedlings-half ghosts & half reapers. They got to about 2" and I moved them out of the GH into full sun. I baked them. Killed everyone but 1. I know better, but just a duhh moment.
I got busy since and only have a few going now. I'll try again. They did good all fall/winter last year in the GH.

Not sure yet, haven't tested since this AM. A little higher this AM...around .5. I didn't feed, and am checking now.

The IBC mbbr is covered with black shade cloth on the top.

Large koi are slowly coming up and feeding off the top.
Tilapia are starving. Small koi pretty active and eating well.

I have looped a portion from the sump back to the shade cloth filter, but am waiting a few more days before trying to mess with that. It's going to throw almost all of my setting on my tanks off, and will require a day of "tinkering" to get things right.

It would appear...way too slow for me.

That will change once you are able to feed more.. No or very little feed means very small changes in Alkalinity drop and pH..

Nitrites hovering around .5. fed very lightly, and will check again in the AM. Tomorrow's check should really tell me if the mbbr is actually finally cycled. Big kpoi are getting very aggressive feeding. About time over 2 weeks...they must be hungry!

Fingers crossed.. Then again.. If your nitrites go up make sure you treat for nitrites and keep up with it until you have the mbbr cycled.
