Ammonia 0
Ph 6.6 - 6.8
Nitrite 1.0  :?
I was actually guessing there would be some ammonia as i have increased feeding in last 24 hrs
Already salted to 3ppt a few days ago so prob less than that now with top ups. Will test again tomorrow morning - don't want to reduce feeding too much as they will prob start snacking on each other :x
Got some gutter guard today too so will rig that up this arvo

Barra are still only feeding at mid-water level :? I might have to give them a demo about feeding on the surface :)
Current tests
Ammonia 0.5
Nitrite 1.0 (or maybe bit over)
Already salted to 3ppt a week ago so prob less than that now with top ups.
What would help it adjust to greater feeding/load?
more plants? (have only planted out 1 and a bit baths was going to stagger them) or water changes to reduce ammonia??
Otherwise they are still feeding ravenously :D even after just being fed 30 min ago
Thanks

Let it go :)

Plantings wont help ammonia or nitrite. Increasing the ph over a week or so will help the bacteria - they prefer closer to 8.

But, just let it go, feed little. The readings are not super dangerous yet, and will probably drop.

Thanks Outback :)
I guess just not really sure yet where the 'danger' levels are for ammonia and nitrite :?

i am also eyeing off an ac dc air pump from ebay for additional air also in case power goes out

Do you know if these would be ok for my system when the barra get bigger? Have you used them before?
Thanks

Update:
everything going well- 49 barra left :) Still some small ones in there but majority look like i could put my hand around them and they would still poke out the ends.
Plants growing well been harvesting lettuce leaves and Bok/Pak Choy. had a peek at onion and seems to be growing well. Corn and toms reaching up..

Water has cleared heaps just in time for me to add some more seasol  Anyway so fun feeding barra when water is clear. :D

Ph staying around 6.8-7.0
Ammonia staying at 0
Nitrite stays 0.5-1.0
:x been there for a few weeks i did salt to 3ppt just before i put fish in dont know how much is left?? How do i get the nitrite down or should i just add say another o.5ppt salt.

Cant figure out how to tak photos below water of fishes but might add one of plants in next few days.

Ta

Update:
lost shelter in winds from cyclone ellie :x so have been using beds as biofilters and seeing what plants will survive full sun. Looking into new shelter either something cyclone proof $$ or able to be taken down when wind gets up - maybe shade sail etc

fish growing and feeding well - taking around 6 heaped tablespoons am and 3-4 pm. This is 6mm pellets. Still either 48-49 barra left can't remember or count  Haven' tried to catch any yet to weigh don't want to stress them. this is at 3 months :)

Finding really hard to get photos of the fish they just dont stay still

I am having trouble getting my flow to my grow beds even :( I currently have 50mm pipe with taps into each bed and no matter how I adjust the taps atleast 1 of the beds floods and the middle one doesnt fill enough :x :x The 3 beds are in a line. Will soon be thinking about adding another possibly 2 beds into this line.

From what I have read ball valves are other option :?: :?:

Will they work?

Are taps needed too?

Ta

I open up all taps to start with. And then adjust one at a time. Under pressure can be tricky. Next time I'm going to run 90mm PVC with overflow gates so its more uniform.
Looking back at the pictures. How much flow do you have. LPM etc
