Looking good KP... :)

A classic example of why gravel washing is good. Though I guess this will vary depending on the gravel type.

That's why I used a rake to do it all... there's no info on here about best practices on washing gravel... Perhaps I will start a thread 'How do you wash your gravel' ;-) No time now... later

Washing Machine! It floods and drains then spins at velocity..

Anybody feel like testing it? I figure it would work actually as long as you never planned to wash clothes in it again.

LOL!!! Video would be better of the thing heaving and slamming around... you know you can never get that thing balanced :)

Ohh and Kuda nice job on the gravel washing I was lazy I just poured the gravel in my beds then let it all settle over time I suppose someday I will clean it but things seem to be draining for now at high velocity. I do however have large drain intakes "2.5 inches" and when it ends the drain cycle there is this horrible sucking sound  one must wonder what the neighbors I have not told what is going on there must think when they hear it walking by the garage.

The good thing about gravel washing....only needs to be done once, 6 GBs @ 500litres = 3 cubic metres (that was my big effort - do not have the courage to display my gravel washing equipment  )

No Monya - I didn't use "that" equipment :tongue2:

If I spead it evenly over the bed, the slurry would have formed a 10mm layer of concrete like stuff on the bottom of the GB.
Should that move toward the drain before solidifying... I shudder to think. And Steve said my gravel looked pretty clean before I washed it. I hate to think what the slurry'd have been like if it have been especially dirty gravel!

I think somebody else on the forum here mentioned taking the gravel to a car wash and from the amount of fines in that gravel I would lean that way too. that stuff would make a fairly good road bed

anyway glad you got started and sorry you gotta leave the project for awhile

Ok... next person that has to clean gravel needs to make a time lapse video of the process... If not I will volunteer, I have 2000L of gravel to wash soon.

Unless I can sell a few of my organs to buy some hydroton... LOL. Who needs a Kidney? No-one? What about a lung... I only need one... I think.

My neighbour who took the photos I modeled in above; offered to take a video, as she thought that it would explain better. I declined her offer ;-)

I thought my stills were clear enough.

Yeah, I got what you were doing... I just thought I would be cool doing a time lapse... hehe. Even at a frame a minute it will still be a long movie...

I managed to plumb up my GB yesterday before I flew north.. A bit of a hodgepodge attempt, but I have water flowing through gravel.
And so the question stands:
1. Will my tanks be red when I get home?
2. Will my green/black tanks be clear when I get home?

By tanks I mean water clarity.
