Humidity can be a funny thing to understand. Almost all measure ment deviced measure relative humidity, not absolute humidity. If you had a closed container with 85% RH air inside and dropped the temp some would condense out, but the RH might not actually change because the moisture carrying capability of the air is reduced at the lower temp hence the "relative" (to the saturation point). if you re-warmed this air up though the humidity would be less then before as it had condensed out. given enough time it would rise again as the condensate was re-evaporated.

I think ths is about right, its quite an interesting topic.

And a GH is even more variable because of the plants transpiration.

Sorry if i have bored you.

So what is the bottom line. Are these temps going to be a problem for the plants and despite those 'relative humidity' measurements, is there likely to be a problem with fungus, mildew etc on the plants?

Not if there is air flow, if you have a look at GF's GH pics, he had a fan set up in his - MF the same

...or ventilate the space to decrease humidity. I have two roof vents, a wall vent (with an evaporative cooler installed) and two large box fans midpoint to move air from one side of the space to the other. I could just use the blower motor on the evaporative cooler (sans the water pump) to force dry outside air into the space, dehumidifying the grow chamber, but the box fans work better to create crossflow (which creates negative pressure on one end of the room and positive pressure on the other to force air out the grow chamber vents. The box fans also provide a natural air current that I believe makes the plants flower.

Steve , That is what is happening as it cooled down later in the day temp was 25C 45%RH.
Michael can you ventilate with out loosing too much of the heat.

Hi David - can you explain the benefits of having the iron sides instead of coverring it all with the plastic. Thanks.

The plastic I found which was quite cheap was 7.5m wide - the distance between the timbers either side is 7.2m wide. Therefore it was necessary to find a cheap fill in material for the balance of the walls. My wife came up with the idea of using some old corrugated iron we had from a demolished shed to use on the walls, which will be removed during the hotter months to allow for ventilation in the GH.
