Hi Rendang

I have been under feeding the Trout for the last few years and started feeding more last September. I have played it very cautiously, now though I know the limits of the system better and the system can afford the higher feed rates. So on with the feeding.

Sorry not much has changed in the last year. I still have not finished the last shade cloth bay or added any new beds. Slack I know.

Hi All

As we have moved the system in now in parts at the new house. As it will be time to get more Trout soon, I hope to put something together very soon.

Hi Greasy

I have both tanks up and running. Built a shed over the fish tanks and part of a 12m * 6m shade house so far.

I will try to get some pictures but the yard is a mess.

you've got a great setup there; and all the datalogging to boot! ive been looking around the net for probes to look into some monitoring wasnt sure where to start or whats good.

good use of the shade cloth to keep the temps down for the fish in summer, looks like youve done lots of homework

also how you did connect the stand pipes and common drain, very tidy with the right tools and know how looks amazing.

Hi 3rotor

I have moved house and changed my setup, but the common drain will still work the same. The common drain is 100mm sewer pipe and stand pipes are 40mm pressure pipe. I put a cap on the end of the 100 pipe and drilled a hole for the 40mm pipe in it. Then welded the join.

The top of the 100mm drain as seen from the grow bed.

Stand pipe welded onto the 100mm cap. The smaller pipes are what makes up the top portion of the stand pipe. It also shows the length of pipe that is under the cap. The pipe stops about 50mm from the bottom of the drain.

I hope that makes sense to you.

Hi Boss

That was the grow bed stand pipe. I put that up in reply to a question.

Hi All

Finally back with some picture of the new setup in Gawler, South Australia.

The new shade house.

Grow bed sitting on one sump. The sump on the left is ready for the second grow bed. The dark shade cloth to the left is the doorway to the fish shed.

Looking in the opposite direction is the area for the DCW. Two frames are in place with three more to come. I still need to get the old 5000L sump out of the ground at the old place and dig a hole for it in front of the DWC troughs.

Inside the fish shed. The roof and the two walls that get the sun are insulated.

The trout in a smaller tank. I will keep them in this tank as long as I can. Hopefully over summer then they can go into the other tanks once the temps drop.

Once the other sump is in and the DWC troughs completed I can close in the back and end of the shade house. By then any useful scrap at the back should have been used and the rest I send to salvage.

looking impressive! love the tank sizes, time to read back through the thread. I'm in Glenelg North with a small system, just about to harvest my winter trout in the next couple of weeks and prep for barra fingerlings.
