Well got the 12 volt pump mounted up and flowing. Flow is great, had to add a vavle to divert some water back to the tank because the siphon would not break. Had to much water going for just two grow beds.

Still not finished, all this is just temporary anyways.

I feel like it is taking forever. Still waiting on my tax refund to finish the system. Just been playing around lately.

Here is the contraption my wife picked up at the scrap yard. We are going to use it to wash rocks.

wow, what a find, that should work a treat if you get it setup up correctly...

you may need to add a finer mesh to the bottom to keep the smaller gravel from falling through...

Yes the holes are too big, but we will add another layer of expanded metal, or some kind of wire.

Now that's just bragging! I dare you to hitch it up and take your gravel through a car wash!

Ha ha, I got a pressure washer. I have a lot of gravel to do, would not be fun driving all that into town. It is 30 minute drive one way to a car wash.

The water temp is about 60 deg F / 15 C. I doubt they are to cold because they eat as much food as I feed them. Feed them 4 dozen minnows one time and they never stopped eating.
But I don't know the temps that they like.

I like the floating basket. Simple yet effective design. Is that for fry raising?
Maybe try hardware cloth-plastic or metal-in the gravel washer.

Right now I am using the basket to protect the gold fish and bait from the bass and perch. Anything that hits that water that can fit in a bass mouth is gone. I bought the gold fish to eat the algae on the sides, but I lost 5 of them when I tried to put them in the tank. Need to let them get bigger for a while.

Yeah, hardware cloth would work, I could weld it down in spots so it doesn't move. Thanks

When the water warms up you could try finding a big plecostomus catfish to deal with your algae. Usually not hard to locate one that has outgrown someone's aquarium.
