Thanks guys! I'm producing about 1500lbs/yr of Tilapia right now Colum
Back from the AA conference and have to say that it was awesome. Saw a lot of friends that I had met and/or taught in the past years and also met many new ones. I even met Sonja from this site who came all the way from Alaska (and she's awesome!).

There were many good talks covering everything from organic certification to permaculture based aquaponic design. Dr. Charlie Shultz and Dr Savidov talked in depth about their temperate climate AP greenhouse production methods which included many high density RAS design implementations to maximize space usage. I also got a personal invite to visit Dr. Savidovs greenhouses which I hope to do soon. Super cool guys.

I gave 4 presentations. The first day was a paid 2hr AP Tomato cultivation course which actually went 2:30. The next day I opened the conference with "How to succeed in Aquaponics" which they actually video taped and will be available at some point soon. The other 2 presentations were given in the brake out sessions, 1 covering this years AP tomato trial and the other covering methods of adapting AP technology to existing aquaculture facilities.

I left the conference with many new friends and have several exciting large projects lining up for the coming year.

I'm pooped and chugged a redbull to finish up some emails so thought I would stop in. I'll work up a condensed version of the tomato trial and will get it up as soon as I can!
Hope everyone is well!!!

Ryan,

is the pvc coming out of the middle of the tank an in or an out? is your pump in the fish tank or...siphon?

what does the netting protect?

I am curious because i have built a winter system out of a intex style pool and i put my pump in the middle of the tank but i dont like having the pump in the tank. Was wondering if there are better options out there.

Fantastic Ryan, glad the conference went well.

I would love to see your presentation "How to succeed in Aquaponics" when it's available.

Ryan, are you running any offline mineralization tanks that are anaerobic in your system? Thanks

Thanks everyone, I'll Truro do it soon!

Cotton- I have center bottom drains. The pipe is actually an emergency overflow incase the bottom slots get clogged.
Sweede- I have many types I run experiments on. I don't recommend anything anerobic or anoxic unless you have the proper sterilization equipment to treat the water.

Those are some lively fish in that tank. Are they all at the top for feeding time or do you just have a really high stocking density?

I would say both Kimo. That tank is at about 1/3lb/gal but I am getting ready to harvest the tank and move them into a larger holding tank for sales ( so people can pick their fish).

Rhino, what the hell ever happened to your prawn? Did the fish eat them? Are they as pretty as everything else in your system? Did you eat them?
