ROFL, been there in your position, know how you feel. Usually I just go pfft and walk away.
I am sure that you are not alone and the second time around the blurb tends to become cautiously shorter. Thanks for sharing, as least we know The Miner was 'ere.

The system is 2 IBC's with a balance line with 3 200l black poly GB's filled with 10 - 15mm river gravel on 100mm rails sat on top the IBC's.

This was our second system (we call it the pilot). It has obvious deficiencies but we have to use local products to keep costs down. The system was a success overall and we learnt alot from it. Bell syphons will never be used again, for various reasons. This sytem has been stripped and a third larger system has replaced it.

Hey Miner.. Good to see your system looks like it has produced ok.. Boy in that second photo it looks like that bed is just sitting there with no support.

It does look like it is unsupported. It was very stable. The centre rail extended out to the edge of the GB. Although it looks a little rough the mechanics of it is quite sound. We have changed the system to be supported by 90mm pine floor boards, 4x2's and ply. The deck is very rigid. I have used it on all of the decks for the third system.

200l tub on top of the FT was for filtration. Placed poorly worked well.

The system is just a branch network of pipes. That now gravity drain to the sump. Previosly the GB's were placed above the lip of the FT's to allow gravity drainage (as is shown above). Utilising the sump allows the bed height to be placed at a comfortable height for access.



Worms in the system. We didnt add them and i was shocked that they existed at all.

Some of the veges and herbs that are now growing. We have trouble with lettuce, pak chois and such, as the bolt to seed due to the climate in Mount Isa. Beans, tomatoes, cucumber, pak choi, garlic, celery, aloevera, mints (seperated), chives and many other grown. FT's have 65 Jade perch in them and freshwater mussels collected locally.

The next phase is to finalise the system to about 12 GB's and 100 Sleepy Cod ontop of the Jade Perch. Also PLC automate the system for ease of maintenance and control of winter heating, filling, tank level, vacation feeding, filtration and pump timing.

Does anyone know a good (read cheap) supplier of Canna (expanded clay) pellets, as it is diffult for us to get them in the Isa.
