I'm designing an aquaponics system, and I wonder if I'm on the right track.
Drew 3D Sketchup and want an assessment of those who know the subject.

How were you planning on having it running Emilio? Just trying to work out how it's plumbed and how it was going to operate?

My doubts concerning the growbed in the corner. I intend to drain directly to the IBC on the floor. IBC this water will be pumped to the IBC with the fish.
I am finalizing the project and soon will have the final design.
I have trouble understanding what you write, and maybe you do not even understand what I write, but I tried in many places and found place with more information than here in Backyard Forum.
Thank you for your attention and I hope to count on the help of you.

Finalizei o desenho, mas o projeto foi cancelado pela minha esposa :naughty: . Terei de escolher outro local. :notworthy:

This also served to me rethink my goals. I start with a much smaller setting.

My wife made me put your feet on the ground, I was climbing a starway.
Remade double design, with 4 growbeds IBC and finally a 4 growbeds barrels.
In the main tank will have 700 le an intermediate IBC 1000 l.
Can anyone tell me if this setting is appropriate?

I like the last one the "4 growbeds IBC".

best to have as much growing area as possible.

I also like the windows in the Fish tank.

I also prefer the latter, but it is difficult to achieve the IBC's.
The tank for the fish has not originally the windows, but I will bring them. I'll cut and paste the windows glasses with PU adhesive. Can I use PU adhesive?

not sure about the PU adhesive, Maybe some are ok for fish tanks?

It might be better using aquarium silicon adhesive and a bolted frame.

If you cant get IBC's you can make the GB from timber with a poly plastic or EPDM liner.

one or two big GB is are lot easier to plumb than 4 or more small ones.

:naughty: I researched on the toxicity of PU, and I think if it is bad for the skin, eyes and should not be inhaled, it can not be good for the fish. lol

------- Of Use: Avoid contact. People with very sensitive skin should wear gloves.
In case of accidental contact with sensitive skin, wash with soap and water. in
accidental case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water. use in
well-ventilated areas.

I've been thinking about what you said and I decided to plan a growbed plywood. Still know almost nothing of aquaponics, but I'm becoming a designer first. lol

If I do the growbed this way, I will coat the plywood with epoxy and line the inside with an EPDM film.

The growbed if made of wood will be built this way.

Yes, I have a similar one and it works well. They can be noisy but there are ways to reduce the noise.
