Well I'm back, haven't been on the forum much as I mostly view and post while I am at work and for the last 18 months my work internet connection was via the mobile phone network so internet browsing and up loading would have drawn too much attention in the form of a huge bill.

Finally moved into my new office so I am back into it and coincidently I am also expanding my sytem.

For those that want the abridged version I built a test system, over stocked it, grew some veggies, killed some fish, learnt from mistake, grew more fish, ate the fish and dug this hole:



Now I have put this sump tank in the hole



Not bad progress for 15 months, hopefully the rest of the build goes a little quicker.

So whats the plan Simo? Just digging a hole or are you extending with more beds, or a new system?

Hi simo.... welcome back mate

Two tanks, tall 3,500L trout tank will over flow with a SLO to the 4,500L silver perch tank which then SLO's to the grow beds which drain to a sump, sump has a float switch pump which pumps back to first tank. It is a two tank CHIFT PIST which will basically be constant flow. I am doubling my GB volume, two on Affnan auto siphons and two constant flood (just for an experiment) and some half blue barrels for some fruiting vines.

I built a new SLO for my new tank for the sytem expasion, I borrowwed arbe's idea of having the SLO pipe lying across the bottom of the tank to pick up more solids, then made the pipe work a complete rectangle so the SLO could be fitted with netting to form a static arm of the hearding net, I will add the dynamic arm will later. The SLO is 90mm PVC but the other half of the herding net will be made form 25mm pipe like my existing hearding net.


The section of the SLO that sits on the bottom of the tank has these slots cut into it to increase the opening size for better solids removal but the gap between the pipe and tank bottom is only 3 mm wide so no fish should ge sucked up.

This is my new tank, it is 1800D and 1200H so that it can over flow into my existing tank which is 900H. New tank is about 3000L andI will keep the SP in it with the big 4,500L tank just for trout.

Welded up two of my four GB stands, made form recycled free materials mostly picked up bed frames from "bring out your dead" days, only cost me cutting disks, welding rods, electricity, petrol and time.

Great recycled stands Simo, we have done the same thing making gates cut and welded from the foldup beds found on verges and the recycling plant. I love verge trading

Thought th kid's car would get noticed.
