Sorry, I haven't posted anything lately. The growth has been mixed. I've already harvested a few cucumbers and the okra and kangkong has been growing very well. The tomatoes are just starting to flower so hoping they will produce fruits soon. I have a pumpkin that has pretty much taken over one of my wicking beds. I've only just started up the DWC so a little too early to tell how that is going to work out. Haven't had too much luck with the lettuce, but have noticed is grows decent where it gets a bit of shade from the other plants.

I think I need to cover the wicking bed to keep the rain off of it. It fills up too much during some of the torrential rains now and again. Also need to get a little more shade cloth over part of the beds.

I just got a water test kit and checked my pond water. pH 7.6, and essentially no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate registering at all. Not quite sure what to make of it. I guess my system is filtering very well. My main concern is sediment/sludge making it's way into the grow beds. I've tried to make up a swirl filter, but it isn't settling out the floaters very well.

I will post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Mark,

I live in Bajada, but my farm is up in Los Amigos/Tugbok.

@Woodrow,

I would suggest a media based solids filter, then send the water to a settlement filter, that's how I do it with mine.

You can use a blue 55G barrel or have a dedicated filtration box since you have a big system.

I'm wondering if there is someway to filter from the suction side of the pump as in before it gets drawn into the system. My reason for this is I think it would be quite a maintenance intensive chore to clean filters.

Attached is a picture of the water lettuce that got a bit away from me after I didn't go to the farm for a few days. I now know why they classify it as a pest. Wow it reproduces fast. Got most of them out now and have instructed the caretaker to net a few bags out every couple of days to keep them down. I'm sure they were sucking a lot of nutrients out of the system as well. They did do a good job of shade to keep algae down. Can at least see the fish now.

As you can also see, I have a few ducks now that I let swim every now and again in the pond.

Would you be able to tell me where you got the finferlings for the fish that you have?

I'll be watching the post closely for your response :D

That is awesome.

Wish if I had one of those here in Australia. Sadly, not enough room in my 900sqm residential block.
Well done.

Ben
