I was thinking about running them in sequence using elbows. My concern there would be the first run getting all of the nutrients.

Then split the feed to 4 & 4. The water goes by pretty fast in NFT. It might take many passes for any plant to collect food. I would aim for 3 to 4 meters max per feed. It is so easy to trade plant locations also. Just pick out 2 and switch. You will need to keep an eye on the roots anyway.
