Just got it covered today. I am expecting 90's pretty easy. Which is fine by me. it will warm the water up.

The problem I run into is the fluctuations of the water temps killing my fish. I am putting auto vent openers in to keep the house no hotter than 80 during the day and I have just buried my tank which is keeping the water at a pretty stable temp already so hopefully I will be done with fishing for dead ones.

I am trying to get my water as hot as possible so that it will not get to cold over night. The tilapia don't seem to mind as long as it does not get to cold. We have not had any sun since I put it up, but during the day (even with complete cloud cover) it is getting to about 80 inside. Water temps are still to low (almost 60) so hoping they start rising now that I have the green house up. My water temp got down to 48 before already this year.

My weather is very similar to yours. i still have 4 or 5 tilapia outside in an ibc. They are still moving well and even eat. It's not too cold yet and i dont have problems with temperature fluctuations even though it's swinging from 60-almost 80 some days..

In all fairness i do have 4 ibc's tied together so 1200 gallons resists change a little bit.

Helomech,

Sorry to hear about the budget cuts but i am right there with you. Love the alternate greenhouse and i am very envious. It is larger than most and no doubt functional.

I have 2 tilapia in my 1500 gallon tank with no aeration, and no pumps and they are doing good, don't even know what the water temp is. My current fish tank is about 800 gallons, but we had a lot of nights with lows in the 40's and no sun during the days.

Got the sides of my greenhouse rolled up today. Going to roll them up a little higher, then cover with shade cloth.

Thanks hopefully I can get a few hundred of them to that size in the future. I never would have thought bass where easier to raise than tilapia.

Bump. I assume your system has been keeping you too busy to post updates. I am sure everyone would love to see one though.

Not much to post lately. The big system is still on hold till I get debt free. The little system is chugging along nicely. Bass are eating and growing.

Good morning. I wanted to see how your system was going. I live in Crockett as well. I am in the middle of a build myself. Just got the greenhouse up.

Helomech hasn't visited the forum since december 2014 but he may have notifications to email. Good bump all the same.
