Yes +! when you bring these down the growth will change again, high nitrates build big cells small cell walls leaving them vulnerable to pests, the pests almost know this i will home in.High Nitrates upset the Potassium Nitrate ratio giving low sugar in the plant as the plant is using so much of its energy using up the excess of nitrate, low sugar shows itself in lettuce by the plant being bitter to taste.
Aim for 40mgl and i wouldn't add any more potassium just bring the nitrates down, then when there down see how the plants respond, you should find all nutrient uptake will be improved.

thanks

yeah ive hardly been feeding the fish the last 2 months and the nitrates are down to about 80ish?
interesting about the bitter taste
ive also stopped adding stuff as the hardness is at max on the test strips so figure ill wait a bit especially seen as i add both cal/mag and phosphorus each water top up

40 is probably unreachable in this system but i am trying to get rid of a few fish so maybe soon- the system really needs lettuce growing at the same time as the chilli to work( based on what i observed last year)
i do think its the high nitrates interfering with the fruit setting

@boss- I dont build the drivers or chips but i do assemble my lights from the best parts

trying to upload pics but doesnt work- files to big? 150kb?!?!
