A place to discuss aquaponics

Maybe I'm cocky, maybe I'm just excited...or perhaps its that aquaponic addiction I've been hearing about. Whatever it is, it's pushing my brain towards system #2 already! My first system has barely started growing plants... Not to mention I'm 9 months pregnant. So the actual realization of this hypothetical second system is still a ways off. But humor me please.

I have a small office that is currently empty. Was going to be a baby room, but we decided our boys will share a room instead. So its just there. Empty.

I will most likely start with a Koi tank. Cause I love Koi, and don't eat fish. Although I contemplated growing fish for my dogs and cat to eat... Spoiled fur babies.

So, what type of tank should I go with? I want the system to look pleasant. I considered a galvanized steel watering tub with a pond liner in it. But it occurred to me that that may not be enough water for a larger syatem, I think they are 90gallons? Any other ideas?

I want to do a media bed with ebb an flow, but I also considered a dwc constant flood since I do love lettuce... Maybe both? Is it easy to combine the two? Not to mention I thought it would be a good idea to make use of the window I have in there and possibly set up a vertical garden from PVC in front if the window? Is that plausible? The rest of the beds will have artificial lighting.

So, lots to think about... Any suggestions?

@celkins - First off, congratulations to the new addition of your family, when are you expecting him? (ps correct me if i am wrong, i am assuming cause you mentioned boys). Back to the system, if money is not an issue i guess the sky/room space is the limit? You can take a look at Charlies' old system. If i remember correctly he is plumbing FT>Media GB>DWC. Cant remember if he had any filter in between off of my head, but you can go take a look.
