Pond liner is safe? That would be great so I didn't have to order it!!! :D

Yes the fish are around 1.5" right now... cute little guys :)

Guess I can get to building tomorrow. I have to build my table for the beds to sit on as well.

I've never used an IBC, all of it has been pond liner for me to start off with.

Just make sure you build it strong, water can get very heavy.

When we say you have too many fish we are actually referring to the number of fish your system can handle if the fish are fully grown. A more accurate assessment would be to compare the total weight of your fish compared to the filtration in the system (grow beds / mechanical / ect.). That being said, you may be within safe parameters regarding fish stocking FOR NOW but dancing on the line of fish density is never a good idea as the fish will be increasing stressed as they grow.

Regarding the building of grow beds... click on the link in my signature and you'll find a pretty well documented system build. My beds were made from plywood, lumber and pond liner. Don't be afraid to over-build your system in regard to durability and strength. As stated above, water can get extremely heavy so don't under-estimate the structural support required to keep your system safe and secure.

Best of luck and aloha! 8)

I can get the 3/4 ball valves for a buck a piece, but there's still a lot of unneeded plumbing. Still looks like it will work. Sell, give a way some fish and maybe add another medie bed. It's hard to see the exact plumbing route from the pics.

Interesting chart that I have never seen B4..

That one and the chart of nutrient uptake Vs pH are most interesting.. I must find that last one again..

and as far as media beds is concerned... is the rule-of-thumb 25-30L of media per fish..??? :notworthy:
..

I only take credit for my ability to link stuff. I think it was Joel who came up with it, then it got knicked by somebody else.

HERE IS THE THREAD for the discussion regarding fish stocking density in relation to grow media volume.
Its probably best to read through so as to get a better understanding of what and why.
