My swirl filter works great but the system water quality points to the need for another layer of filtering.

Are there any recommendations for a cheap implementation of some sort of bio-filter? I have a 330gal FT, 275gal sump, 12 half barrel grow beds.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Your GB's are the bio-filters!... If your water quality is poor in that it has constant Ammonia readings, then simply add more GB's or reduce fish numbers. If it's poor in that there is a lot of suspended solids, then maybe try a radial flow filter, supposedly they are better at removing suspended solids than swirl filters.
