Looks good.

Sorry about the fish, too many in there I think :(

Does it get enough light up there?

One of the fish died because he was sick caused an ammonia spike :( they were all showing signs of stress so I didn't expect much - won't try keeping hot weather fish again without a proper heated aquarium.

The light is okay - Its just an experiment - I will run it hydroponically for a bit and then take it out - which will be hard.

I never understood this - can you explain why its not more if you use 220litre drum? so even at 1/2 a barrel 110ltrs and a bit less for top space it would be more like 90ltrs?

I've pulled this from another thread as I thought it more appropriate here.
I've attached a bb volume chart that was posted by another member to show where the figure comes from. (It was a guess at the time but works out pretty close.) The volumes are in an alien measurement but I'm sure you can translate. :)
I was thinking the water level would be around 7-8" deep in a half barrel.
Hope this helps.

G'day Jay
What type of fitting do you have through the bottom of the grow bed?
I'm going to make one of these for herbs on the porch.

for this one I used a plug and waste fitting with a rubber washer.

In future and current systems at school I'm using a 'Uniseal'

With a uniseal you push the pipe through it and leave about 3cm in the growbed. You then attach a joiner and standpipe so its removable.

I would recommend 25-32mm

So I deconstructed this after an aphid infestation. Going to reassemble at school for students.

yeah probably hiding on some transplanted plants.
It's okay - it was making the room fog up and moist.

I've now donated this system to a student who is going to mirror the T-barrel and join with a pipe (1x fish tank 1x sump and 2x GB)

See how it goes for her.
