it may work to someone who isnt a gardener, but i would never take one seriously.

I made this the top is custom made I cut it out and insert the net cups . Are you saying it won't work?

yea you can buy very similar things, you may get some growth but your bioload balance will be tricky.
also, since you need it somewhere nice and sunny you will get algae growth on the walls, also temp swings may be quite large.

Hi H-H,

The problem that I see is that plants and fish have different needs in terms of light. If you use this you'll probably want to filter the light on the fish tank portions facing the light for the reasons Yavimaya suggested. Just a piece of paper attached to the back might be enough.

Do I think it would work? Probably, with one fish and a few small herbs in a windowsill but I'd keep my expectations low. I think it would be better that the little windowsill pots they sell at the store for growing plants. Using flake food probably won't give you enough of the right nutrients to grow the plants so you'll need to get something better or supplement the food somehow.

Are you planning on using a wick in each pot to draw the water up? By the way, nice fabrication job on the top :thumbright:
