Hi All Again, I have been cycling my system now for nearly 3 months, I have premission to stock Rainbow trout, and after contacting my local fisheries warden he tells me my application has now been passed on to the "Dept of the Marine" more .......red tape so I guess these guys are now going to do a thesis on trout and AP so I think I will give up on the idea of having charlie crap for the forseeable future.
Question; what should I be including along with Humonia or otherwise in order for my plants to be as healthy as possible and acheive the best growth possible, at present Amonia is 0 nitrites are 0 and Nitrates are 0.
I have 4,000lt's of water in my system and am adding about 750ml's of pee every day for the last 7 days with 0 ppm in my readings, 15 on 45 off.

Can you not use another species of fish until you are able to use the ones you want?

Hi JRL91RS. It looks like they have several requests for the two species of trout that can be used for AP use and therefore are probably going to write a manual on the do's and don'ts.
I am having trouble trying to source the fish elsewhere and unfortunately I need their consent as I would like to do a commercial venture at some point in the future and will need their backing.
Not to long ago anyone with a reasonable amount of land (1/2 acre) kept a pig but no more as the red tape is so controling that it is not worth peoples while.
They don't like it when people become self sufficent and AP might be seen in the same light.

Just chuck a heap of cheap gold fish in it until you get approval.

I wouldn't think you would need approval to keep gold fish.

I got some of the non coloured ones from my local pet store here in Oz for $1ea.

Once I have got my larger system going they will become live feed.
