Replaced the pond pump for a Rule 1100 GPH 12v pump. I'm running it in a 15/45 on/off cycle so we will see how long it lasts...

Probably not that long... being on a timer will help.... those that have run them continuously have usually found they don't last more than a month or two...

Today's readings...

Also noticed that the water is going very green probably due to the sump tank being uncovered. I've added a small UV & bio filter to the sump tank on a seperate always on pump and covered the tank to see if I can clear things up. I guess I could use them after for some NFT tubes...

Matt, I would really like to say thanks for posting to help me, I spent hours recently trying to find suitably sized containers for tanks and things with no luck, but as you posted on my thread and your system I came to have a look at your system thread and discovered dog baths! They're the perfect size and not stupidly expensive like they are sold as other things. That's really helped me out! Your system looks great, I love how you've screened your ft.

Thanks. The dog baths are great if you want some small beds as they are deep enough and not to wide. I find the top of an IBC a bit too big for the wife to reach over. The dog is starting to smell a bit though so I may have to buy some more

Make sure you get the baths that are made from 4Kg of food grade virgin polymer. There are some cheap ones about that are made from 3Kg of recycled polymer which are a bit flimsy and the polymer is from an unknown source.

Small update...

The system has been running well with the goldfish and I have been adding a cap full of seasol once a week to keep the nutrients up.

Had some good radishes...
