Hi my name is Greg, Im in Ventura, Ca. I study Environmental Science and Resource Management at the college here. I have been aware of aquaponics and its wonderful and plentiful benefits.

I recently moved into a house with a large pond in the back yard. I said to myself, that thing needs 1. cleaning! and 2. an aquaponic farm! the pond is about 600, 700 gallons. 8ft x 4ft x 4ft at the deepest part. I threw a grow bed, 2ft x 18in x 1ft right on top of the waterfall. As my drainage pipe i have two 1/2 tubes feeding two smaller grow beds 1ft x 1ft x 8 in. which both drain into the pond. my pump is 125 gph, but to reduce in fluent flow (because of my shanky effluent drain is not optimal) i made a horseshoe style drip system along the top bed.

I just began cycling so i have not planted or put my fish in yet.

My pond size may be an issue, but i am not going to stock it to potential. I have plenty of space around the pond so i am looking to install several more grow beds, keep building up and out!

Its quite simple and low budget, doesnt look the best, but a start. \\\\

Welcome to the forum Greg!

You should be able to grow lots of plants with that size pond. Shouldn't have to push the stocking level to do it either.
