Am I right in saying its not on the noxious and banned species list for people to keep at home, just not good to let them go in the wild?

Well their report did say that if you ever catch them you need to destroy them... If you're keeping them alive and taking them away I imagine a fisheries person might be a little concerned maybe..

The Spanglies are a great little fish and seem to be native to most fresh water ways in South East Qld. They realy are quite agressive little buggers. We often catch them on lures that are not much smaller than the fish.

I have also kept them in aquariums, they are fine by themselves but will hassel everything else in the tank even continually picking at much larger predatory fish until they die from the stress.

They are the most widespread inland freshwater fish in Australia. Surely someone has tried them in an AP or aquaculture system somewhere where they are endemic?

There are a few fish suppliers in QLD who sell them for stocking dams but the purpose is so that Barra in the dams will have a live food source.
