Ha, sorry I didn't catch that. The river rock that I got had so much mulch and odd organic particles that I really want to ensure that I'm not adding something weird to my system. Plus there is a bunch of smaller size particles that I suspect would create anaerobic zones over time so I have screen those smaller rocks as well.

I was serious about washing by recycling the water in the catch basin. It is really hard for me to do it that way because the water became so murky. I am probably being too type-a about the whole thing. I just try to get the zen thing going and enjoy it when I'm in the mood. Lately the mood hasn't struck me - might have to do with the cooler air temps. I much prefer to play in the water as a break from the summer heat (in Florida thats from April to Dec) then having my hands numb nowadays.

The third set will get done. Got lots to do besides that in the meantime. Heck I could run those containers as DWC and never wash gravel again. Actually that started out as humor but I think I like that idea a lot.

Any reason that couldn't work?

you want to make sure you are sending "clean" water to DWC beds and DWC likes constant flow plus extra aeration.
