I think I was a bit overzealous with my tomato planting. Nearly everything has slowly died out except for the tomatoes. I've heard they are a greedy little plant and I have a lot of them. All that's left are the tomatoes and the onion that won't die.
The fish are eating well and growing a little. I had to throw a couple of heaters in the water. There was a hard freeze this week and the greenhouse, though ravaged by storms (and cats), and the warm water kept the tomatoes alive when everyone else's died.
We got our first tomato last week. It wasn't as sweet as I had hoped but it was VERY flavorful and juicy, and it didn't need any salt because I had kept the fish tank salted. The plant that we harvested it from had died back.. all the leaves had turned brown and shriveled, but the stem was still green. I have another tomato almost ready to harvest from a healthier plant, so I have high hopes for that one.
I am thinking of adding lettuce in since it would probably be happier in the cold and should be ready to harvest before the temps get too outrageous.
